Dresses, gowns, skins and styling.

Let me start today with a lovely gown, the November gown by Saschas Design. It is free for group members (a free gown or dress each month) but the joining fee is 50 L$. However you get ALL previous monthly gowns, back to 2008!
The gown is perfect for fall, falling leaves all over it :)
The necklace and earrings are a previous hunt gift by Alienbear.

The next gown is by SLC design and it is their VIP group offer for this month. There is a 99 L$ enrolment fee.
And this gown is by At Last Design and I found it on Marketplace. This gown will set you back 1 L$.

Another lovely gown I found on Marketplace is by Affinity Boutique.
Then I went to Snowpaws because they have soooo many lucky boards and to my surprise I won a lovely green boho gown :)
I also got a cute orange/red dress from the lucky boards.
But the best thing was the great dress Snowpaws is giving away.

The next dress is a group gift by Poised.
And this cute flower dress is by At Last Design, also from Marketplace. It comes with the matching shoes and you have to pay 1 L$ to get dress and shoes.
Apple May Design has a lovely new release, a dress perfect for Fall. I love the leaf design and the cute skirt. (not free).
Apple May Design also has a new released skin, called Giselle and you might have noticed it the last days as I was wearing this lovely skin on my pictures here. It comes in many skintones and make-ups. (not free).
The 2 skins I have been wearing:

Mother Gooses skins are free but you have to be patient, as they are from their lucky boards. The letters change really fast and they have sooo mant lucky boards that you really have to keep focussed. But all skins below I got from those lucky boards.
The pointed eyelashes are also from the lucky board at Mother Goose.

This great hair is from the lucky boards at Diva. The scarf is color and texture change.

Then I found this cute purple dress on Marketplace. It is by Agressione and it is free. Actually it is quite a plain dress, nothing to it. But I decided to style it in different ways so you can see what is possible with such a plain dress. The dress is 1 L$. On the first pic on the left is the dress plain as I bought it. On the right I styled it with a belt I found at Sakide and a in-mouth necklace by Ellenico.
Then I changed the necklace to a purple set (necklace and earrings) by Eti Osuka.
Actually with the belt by Sakide you get fishnet stockings and I decided to wear those with the top of the purple dress. I styled it with a lovely white pearl set (necklace and bangles) by Jetcity
And the fishnets also come in black, so I am wearing the Funny Bow grey necklace by Thypa Bailey with the purple dress.
Then I found a really FUN belt by Puppy dog tails. It is called Kawai belt and there are so many fun things on the belt, like a lollipop, a little bear, a bow etc., it made me smile.
Last but not least I put the lovely elegant pearl belly chain by Alienbear on the dress. WOW you could go dancing in this cute dress... it is so stylish all of a sudden. The belly chain is not free. 10 L$ for this lovely double chain.

    HAPPY SHOPPING LADIES !!!

Review: Scented nail polish remover pads

    Hello everybody!

    How have you been lately?

I'm back from my course (which was great!) and I have some catch-up to do.
This past month I didn't have time to do my nails (and that's why now they are very very short), but I bought some great nail polishes which I will sow you in another post.

While I was away, I also received a package from Bornprettystore.

    This is what I got:

First of all I want to say that the pads smell amazing! I wish you could sense the smell through the pictures :)

Scents I have: apple, melon, lily, strawberry, grapes, oranges.
They came sealed (you can see the plastic wrap around them) and each box contains 32 pads.

I opened the strawberry one and this is how it looks like:

The pads are thin and well soaked in polish remover.

Here is a close up with two pads.

I wanted to try them so I can see how good they clean the nail polish.

I had a polish on my nails and I added some glitter ('cause we all know how hard it is to take that off :) )

I used 2 pads to clean 5 nails: 3 with glitter and 2 without glitter (I forgot to take a photo with the pads after cleaning the polish, but I will take one next time)

    Here are my nails after:

The pads work really good. The easily remove the nail polish (even the glittery one, and I didn't have to rub very hard to do that!).

I think the pads are great to use to remove the glittery polish using the aluminum foil method (cut in half they cover the nail just perfect if you have smaller nails).

What I like most about the pads (except the scent; my favorites are strawberry and melon) is that they don't dry your cuticles!!
Because the box is quite small, you can easily take one with you in your everyday bag or when you travel and you want to save some space!

    Do I recommend them?
    YES!

You can find them here, along with a lot more nail art supply. You can buy the whole set or you can find them separately, if you prefer a certain scent!

You can use my coupon code: ALEXAK31 to get 10% discount!

I will share my opinions about the cuticle pusher & remover on my next post.

So, have you used them before? Do you like them?
Which is your favorite nail polish remover?

    Thanks for reading!

Happy Halloween Pumpkin Cake

Happy Halloween Everyone! Trick or Treat?  Well, no tricks here, just a whole lot of treats.  I am so excited to show you how to make this fun and festive pumpkin shaped cake.  If you have been to my blog before, you know I'm still working on getting comfortable with the world of baking.  Now I'm also exploring the beauty of cake decorating.  Anyone can make this fun cake because I did it!  I used a box cake mixed, but I followed a tip baking guru Paula Deen gave on a cooking show.  I love her tips because it takes an ordinary box cake mix and turns it into super rich and moist cake.  Now if Paula Deen uses a box cake mix occasionally, I'm sure going to feel less baking challenged when I do too. : )   I hope you all have a very sweet and safe Halloween.

    Ingredients:
2 boxes of any flavor cake mix.  I used classic yellow.
(See notes fpr Paula Deens tips to enhance box cake mix)
2-3 tubs of frosting or your favorite white frosting
    sprinkles (optional)
Yellow, Red and Green food coloring (see note)
    1 ice cream cone

Notes on Box Cake Mix:  Paula Deen advised that you can turn a regular box cake mix to a richer cake mix by doing the following:
    1. Add an extra egg to to the box cake mix (for example if the box calls for 3 eggs, use 4)
    2. Add butter in place of the vegetable oil  that is called for on the cake box.
    3.  Add milk in place of the water that is called for on the cake box.

Notes on Frosting:  You can get some help from the store and buy orange and green cake frosting.  That's actually what I did.

Notes on the baking pan:  You will need a bundt cake pan for this cake so you can get the right shape.  You will either use two bundts pans to bake the cakes or have to bake one cake at a time using the same bundt pan.  That's what I did.

    Directions:
Bake the two cakes per the box baking instructions until done.  Allow cakes to cool completely on two separate plates.

Then frost the dome part of one bundt well.  Next, take your cake plate (the plate that will hold your final pumpkin cake) and invert it over the frosted cake. Then flip the frosted cake over so the frosted side is now the bottom half of the pumpkin and the flat side of the bundt is facing up.

Now frost the flat side of the bundt cake well. This will become the center layer of frosting between the two bundt cakes.  Next, place the second bundt cake on top of the bottom cake by placing the flat sides together.  The dome of the 2nd bundt should be the top of the pumpkin now.

Frost the top bundt cake as well. Use the back of a spoon and give it some texture up and down the cake to make the ridges of the pumpkin.

Next take a flat bottom ice cream cone and frost it will with the green frosting.  Place the frosted ice cream cone in the bundt cake hole so it looks like the stem of the pumpkin.

Voila you have just created yourself a pumpkin shaped cake.  Now you can decorate with sprinkles and novelty plastic spiders to give it a real fun finish.  Slice and enjoy.  Serves a party.
